Frequently asked questions

What quality should I use?

70–80 for screens, 90+ for print. Around 80 is the sweet spot.

What is WebP?

A format 20–30% lighter than JPG at the same quality. Ideal for websites.

What quality setting should I use?

75 to 85 is usually indistinguishable from the original on screen. Below that, flat areas like skies start to band.

Should I also reduce the dimensions?

Yes. If the image is wider than it will ever be displayed, shrinking the maximum size saves far more than lowering quality. Use both.

Text in screenshots looks smeared.

Small type compresses badly. Keep the quality high or leave screenshots as PNG.

Is my file safe?
