Fix an upside-down or sideways scanned PDF — rotate only the pages that need it

2026-10-06

Duplex scanning often brings the back sides in upside down, and landscape tables end up on their side. Rotating in the viewer only lasts until you close it; the recipient sees it flipped again. The rotation has to be saved into the file.

When the whole document is flipped

In Rotate PDF choose 180 degrees and leave the range empty. The file's rotation attribute changes, so it opens the right way up in any viewer.

When only some pages are wrong

If every even page is flipped, enter 2, 4, 6, 8 as the range, or open the document in Organize PDF and press rotate on the thumbnails that need it — no counting required.

Pages with a landscape table need only 90 degrees; leave the rest alone.

It prints flipped again

Printer drivers with auto-rotate turn pages to match the paper. Switch that option off in the print dialog, or set the paper orientation to match the document.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Only the page orientation attribute changes; the content is untouched.
Can I fix a slightly skewed scan?
No. Rotation works in 90-degree steps. A tilted scan has to be rescanned.
