How to save only specific pages of a PDF (extract vs. split)

You need the executive summary β three pages out of eighty β or you have twelve invoices scanned into one file and need them one by one. Both look similar; they use different tools.
Use the tool
A few pages into one file: Extract pages
"Pages 1, 5β7 and 12, in one file" β that is Extract pages. Type the ranges and you get a single PDF with those pages in the order you typed. Ideal for summaries, excerpts and signature pages.
One file into many: Split PDF
"Pages 1β4 as file A, 5β8 as file B" β that is Split PDF. Type several comma-separated ranges and each becomes its own file, bundled as a ZIP. There is also a mode that saves every page as a separate file.
Writing ranges
- 3 β page 3 only
- 2-5 β pages 2 through 5
- 10- β page 10 to the end
- 1, 4-6, 9 β combine with commas
When you don't know the page numbers
Use Organize pages instead. Every page shows as a thumbnail, so you can mark the ones to remove by eye and save what is left.
