Make a contact QR code for a business card — scan and save, no app, no link

2026-10-06

The easiest way to stop people retyping your number from a business card is a contact QR. Scanning it opens the save-contact screen directly, with no sign-up and no intermediate link.

Contact QR versus link QR

A contact (vCard) QR stores the name, phone and email inside the code itself. It works offline and the save screen appears immediately. A link QR points to a web page that shows the details; when the page goes away, the QR dies with it.

Business cards circulate for years, so the contact type is the safer choice. This generator does not route through a tracking shortener, so there is no expiry.

Making and placing it

  • In the QR tool choose the contact type and enter name, phone, email and company
  • Download as PNG and place it on the card. Print it at least 2 cm wide for reliable scanning
  • For an email signature, resize the image to around 150 pixels

Before you print

Scan the proof with a phone and confirm the save screen appears. Inverted colours — a light code on a dark background — fail on some devices. Black on white is the dependable choice.

Frequently asked questions

What if my number changes?
The data lives inside the code, so you generate a new one. If details change often, a link QR is the better fit.
Can I see how many people scanned it?
No. There is no tracking because there is no shortener in between.
